Workplace Giving Employers (List)

What is Workplace Giving?

Workplace giving is when employees regularly donate to selected charities (with DGR status) through employers that offer workplace giving programs. Employees select the amount to be deducted from their pre-tax salary, and the employer pays the donation to the charities each payday. Workplace giving does not affect gross income, super guarantee payments, or fringe benefits, and the total amount donated must be claimed through tax; for more information, visit the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) website.

How Does Workplace Giving Make a Difference?

When companies decide to introduce workplace giving programs, they commit to making a greater social impact in Australia and to promoting a culture of philanthropy in the workplace. The most successful way to increase the amount and value of donations is to match them; for example, an employee makes a $20 donation (which only costs them about $12.60 with the tax benefit), and the employer matches it by also making a $20 donation — so, the charity receives double the donation. For more information, visit the Workplace Giving Australia website.

Workplace Giving Employers

The One Million Donors movement was established with the mission of seeing one million Australians making donations to charities through workplace giving programs by 2020 in order to transform the giving landscape in Australia. There are many employees, employers, and charities involved in this movement, and the One Million Donors website lists some of the industry leaders:
